Birchington facts:
Is a village on the Isle of Thanet with a population of some 10,000. Next to the North Sea at the entrance to the Thames Estuary, the seaside resort has long been a popular place to visit, most especially since 1863 and the opening of the railway station.
Birchington on Sea has been home to British screenwriter legend Tudor Gates and was the last home and burial place of Dante Gabriel Rossetti, the Pre-Raphaelite artist and poet.
Home to Minnis Bay Sailing Club and a number of other local sports clubs. Quex House (a 200 year old manor house) and Park is situated in Birchington and home to the Powell-Cotton Museum.
