Risca
The town of Risca in South Wales sits within Caerphilly County Borough and the historic boundaries of Monmouthshire. It is part of the Newport conurbation.
Risca is close to popular wooded hills which attract hill walkers. The route of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal runs through Risca, as does the Ebbw River.
The purpose-built Risca Collieries Workmen’s Institute, which is now a Grade II listed building, is now home to Risca Museum. Other listed buildings include a number of churches and the former Risca Palace cinema, a rendered building that now houses the library.
